Electrical and Safety Compliance Testing

sensity retrofit kits have been tested by MET Labs in Oakland, CA , a NVLAP certified Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL), and are compliant with UL1598 and UL8750 standards. Associated documents are linked below:

Photometric and Thermal Testing (LM-79)

sensity tests all of its products in third-party, independent labaratories that are approved by Federal NVLAP and NRTL programs, and certified by the US DOE solid state lighting program as qualified to provide IES LM-79 testing for ENERGY STAR and DLC approval. The table below lists the sensity products and contains a matrix of links to datasheets, test reports, and other documents. DesignLights Consortium Qualified Products are highlighted in dark yellow. See the DLC Qualified Products List . Untested products (yellow but no attached reports) have been approved by virtue of being "bracketed" by approved higher- and lower-wattage products in the same category. IESNA LM-79 Intensity test measures total wattage, total light output, candelas over angle, zonal lumens, and efficacy. It often includes electrical data such as power factor and THD.

IESNA LM-79 Color test measures wattage, correlated color temperature (CCT), color point (u',v'), Duv, and color rendering index (CRI). It often includes electrical data such as power factor and THD.

In Situ Temperature Measurement Test (ISTMT) measures the temperature of several locations in the system at full thermal equilibrium. This is useful to measure the LED pad temperature, the temperature of key electronic components, and the overall thermal resistance (Rth) of the conductive path from LED to ambient. It is used to calculate LED lumen maintenance based on LM-80 data from the LED manufacturer. It often includes electrical data such as power factor and THD.

The IES file is a data log of the IESNA LM-79 Intensity test. It can be plugged into many modeling tools to see what the light output and distribution pattern might be when a product is used in a particular application. Because sensity outdoor area retrofits can be custom-aimed at the time of installation, and it is impractical to test every possible distribution pattern, these files represent only a simple downward pattern. The XLE-HB and XLE-GC files reflect actual performance in use.

The Lighting Facts Label is given out by the Lighting Facts program of the US Department of Energy to registered Lighting Facts Partners. It uses some of the LM-79 test data to create a useful label illustrating product performance in basic metrics such as color temperature (CCT), color rendering (CRI), wattage, output, and efficacy.

The DesignLights Consortium is a utility-affiliated, not-for-profit organization that establishes strict luminaire performance criteria, reviews test lab results against those criteria, and qualifies products for utility rebate programs.
